"Jewelry Skills" Workshop
$30.00 Tuesday, January 15th - 6:30 - 8:30pm LOVE is in the Air! Prepare for Valentine's Day by making a beautiful heart-shaped LOVE CHARM pendant in Sterling Silver, with a beautiful semi-precious gemstone of your choice. You can also choose to make a pendant stamped with a meaningful word or name. SUSANA CABAN, creator of the HEART and SOUL Jewelry Collection, will teach the class. Susana studied Jewelry Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, and worked as a Jewelry Designer and Wax Model Maker for 25 years. She has created a yoga-inspired jewelry line designed to nurture the Heart and Soul. Susana will introduce you to hand stamping, drilling holes, silver oxidation, polishing, and some basic wire wrapping techniques to attach gemstones. You will use jewelry pliers, wire cutters, metal stamps, hammers, and a Dremel tool for drilling and polishing. The $30 class fee includes all materials & instruction. Limited space is available. $22.00 Join us on Monday, October 29th from 6:30pm - 8:30pm at Creative Corner Books, located at 607 Main Street in Hobart NY for an for an evening of exploring the numerous ways to create stand-out Winter Greeting Cards. Instructor LINDA FULGHUM will show you how how to create custom interactive greeting cards that move, pop, and flip! To make this winter-themed 10 card assortment, you will receive all pieces cut and ready to attach. This is similar to the recent "Easy Peasy Cards" Workshop, but KICKED UP A NOTCH, because these cards MOVE. Make a charming picture of two sheep using a punch needle embroidery technique taught by JILL REED. Needle punching is used to create wall hangings, ornaments, pillows, rugs and other décor and crafts. The $53 class fee includes instruction and all materials to make the project., including a punch needle tool to keep. $32.00 On Monday, September 24th, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Creative Corner Books, join Barbara Johnson, owner of "Soul Song Originals-Handcrafted Jewelry & Art", to learn basic jewelry-making techniques for creating a variety of necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. The $32 class fee includes instruction, written information, and all beads, findings, and other materials to make three pieces of jewelry, with choices from many different styles. Additional project kits to take home will also be available for sale. This class is for adults and teens of all experience levels. Limited space is available. MAKE YOUR OWN SWEEPER DUSTER COVER WORKSHOP with CARRIE JAMES
$7.00 Fee Join us on Thursday, June 7th from 7pm - 8:30pm at Creative Corner Books, located at 607 Main Street in Hobart NY for an opportunity to learn how to create re-usable / washable dust mop covers Disposable cloths and pads for your Swiiffer or a similar duster/mop are expensive and wasteful. Why toss them after a few minutes of use when you can make your own reusable covers for just a few pennies? Carrie James will teach you how to make either a knitted or crocheted cover in less that 2 hours, and leave you with one cover completed. NO PRIOR KNITTING OR CROCHETING EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY! A $7.00 fee will provide the following materials including cotton yarn, crochet hook or knitting needles, instruction and two patterns. PRODDY FLOWERS CLASS
$32.00 Join us on Thursday June 21st, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Creative Corner Books for a fun night creating Proddy Flowers. Proddy is an old-fashioned British variation of rug hooking, using shaped pieced of wool fabric lifted up with a wool prod. This technique is perfect for creating beautiful three dimensional blossoms. Jill Reed will show us how to make a proddy flower to use as either a lapel pin or a hair decoration. NEEDLE FELTING CLASS
$32.00 Monday, July 16, 2018, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Create a flower design on a wool background by needle felting. It's like painting with wool. Needle felting (also known as dry felting) uses special barbed needles that intermingle fibers from the top and bottom surfaces of your felting project, locking them together to form a dense matted surface. Needle felting can be used to create flat designs or three dimensional shapes. Jill Reed will teach us how to make a two dimensional flower design using wool roving and felt it onto a flat wool background. You can either frame your design or create a rustic wall hanging. You can choose your own colors to work with. No experience is required. ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED!
