USPS Official Souvenir Pages (1st Day of Issue Stamps) IN PROTECTIVE ALBUMS
Complete Runs from 1973-1996 (837 Souvenir Pages in Total and 2381 Stamps in Total.)
Here is an opportunity to own 24 complete sets of this
wonderful gathering of Collectable U.S. Stamps in handsome protective
binders. The previous owner / collector
has used the fourteen binders from the American Commemorative
Collection Series, but please note that the contents are in reality The
Souvenir Page Series which is a subscription based format featuring First
Day Issue stamps canceled from cities and towns throughout the United States
and its territories.
It should be noted that almost
every stamp in this 24-year period is here with the following exceptions due to
cost considerations elected by the collector. These are:
Scott # 552 & 552a (1909 & 1909a) Express Mail single and Express Mail booklet pane of 3 each stamp with a face value of $9.35 EACH. [1983]
Scott # 952 & 953 & 954 (2540, 2541 & 2542) Eagle stamp with face value of $2.90, $9.95 and $14.00 respectively. [1991]
Scott # 1079A (2870) Legends of the West stamp sheet of (20) Recalled in 1994 when the Bill Pickett stamp was discovered to mistakenly picture his brother, Ben. To help defray the expense of producing the errors, the USPS decided to hold a "lottery" and thereby allowed some collectors to purchase 150,000 of the recalled sheets. Evidently, this collector did not win that lottery nor did they purchase the corrected reissue sheet #2869.
The asking price for this comprehensive collection averages to $42 per year per volume which is in line with or below other offers AND includes the 14 binders which many others do NOT offer ..... The pages are ALL in excellent condition having benefited
from the storage within the binders. Because so many pages were packed into
each binder the mylar protective sleeves are bit tight in turning and just a
few (perhaps eight) have minor crimping along the perforated edge that rest
against the small 23 binder rings. As a result, some pages have a slight curl, but
NO CREASES or page damage and nothing offensive by any stretch. Our
accompanying images represent 2-page spreads from each year from 1972-1996,
featuring some of the highlights. Please note that both the physical size of
the pages and the quantity of images needed, created photo challenges resulting
in a less than stellar desired quality. Our apologies.
Below is a detailed inventory of each page with exact title
that appears on the Souvenir page and NOT the title as listed in the Scott
catalogue. A careful review was executed
to insure that all stamps match the inventory of both the physical pages
offered and the Scott catalogue listings.
